Mexican drug cartels reportedly dispatching agents deep inside US

Mexican drug cartels whose operatives once rarely ventured beyond the U.S. border are dispatching some of their most trusted agents to live and work deep inside the United States — an emboldened presence that experts believe is meant to tighten their grip on the world’s most lucrative narcotics market and maximize profits.

What does this mean for us? If the drug cartels are sending in the “big guns” to reside within our borders, this is a bold move that conveys a clear message to local law enforcement; a message of defiance meant to undermine our nations security. This message also tells other would-be illegal criminal immigrants that it’s easy to conduct business within our borders. Additionally, this can lead to an increase in other illegal activities such as prostitution and kidnapping.

Law enforcement will never be able to handle everyone’s personal security and that is why it is so important for us to take precautions.

“It’s probably the most serious threat the United States has faced from organized crime,” said Jack Riley, head of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Chicago office.

Cyber big brother wants more power in real time

“The Federal Bureau of Investigation doesn’t have the ability to monitor everyone’s one-on-one Internet chats in real-time just yet, but the agency’s chief lawyer says all that should soon change”

I think we all can all agree that safety issues stemming from the internet is on the rise, however is an invasion of “cyber privacy” the answer? As stated in the last blog, internet safety has lead to additional personal security risks that are not easily reconciled but many are apprehensive  about these type of security precautions because the obvious ramifications. I strongly believe that privacy equals safety, so without stirring the pot of controversy too much I feel like this would be a step in the wrong direction.

Reblogged from CNN Security Clearance:

By Jethro Mullen, CNN

The United States said Thursday it sent stealth bombers to South Korea to participate in annual military exercises amid spiking tensions with North Korea.

Safety, Violence and Change

The world is in a state of change, where technology has created a much smaller world; a world that is connected and knowledgable. Life is much different today than it was a decade ago, the use of technology and the internet has made it possible for people to know what’s going on in different parts of the world within a matter of moments. This has helped our culture and civilization to form into something that we don’t recognize from previous decades.

In decades past we didn’t need to worry about certain safety issues. Much of our safety today is threatened not only by criminals and foreign governments but the technology they use. Now days we are so connected in, that it’s very easy for possible predators to find out so much personal information about us.

Additionally, spy agencies list cyberattacks, not terrorism as top national security threat to USA. What does that mean for us? As databases are hacked and personal information is leaked, it will be that much easier for people who would do us harm to gather information and learn our habits. Habits like when we pick our kids up from school, business trips, and other similar habits that usually lead to us leaving our guard down. Many would say that social media has already done that and to a degree, this is true; that is why it smart exercise judgement when using social media. Many have thrown out their own privacy in the name of social media without paying close attention to the many safety concerns this can and have caused.

Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne’s Controversial Gun Proposal

“Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne made national headlines Thursday for his stance on guns in school .

Horne proposed to have one principal, or one person designated by the principal, to carry a gun in each school. This person would be trained free of charge by law enforcement.

Already, Horne has sheriff’s from Pinal, Mojave, and Apache Counties on board with his plan.

The plan would possibly lead to more than one designated individual down the road. But the proposed plan focuses on just one for the time being. What this means for the state of Arizona is that trained security officers working for companies that are licensed through the department of public safety can also be brought into schools where they can serve at the school’s request.

“There would have to be legislative action to amend state law in order for Horne’s plan to move forward.”

Despite the controversial nature of the proposal, it would surely put many parents at ease knowing that there are trained individuals within the schools that could protect their children.

Imperial Protective Service has been licensed by the Department of Public Safety since 2000.

Syria mixes chemical weapons for potential use in bombs?

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with Russia’s top diplomat Thursday to discuss the crisis in Syria, a day after sources confirmed to Fox News Syria’s military has mixed chemical weapons and loaded them into bombs in preparation for possible use on President Assad’s own people.

Screen Shot 2012-12-06 at 10.56.43 AM

The United States has said that chemical weapons would create a scenario where greater U.S. intervention would in fact take place. It is vital that chemical weapons are not allowed to be used because this could be a catalyst that could spark the usage of chemical warfare to be commonplace. Needless to say, this would be a massive blow to our safety across the world.

Hopefully there will be some type of non-violent resolve.

Police say after officers arrived, Blecher moved behind vehicle…

Kansas City police say after officers arrived, Belcher moved behind vehicle and shot himself. The recent murder-suicide has created an upheavel of turmoil and controversy which once again has led to many demanding tougher gun laws. However in retrospect would tougher gun laws had stopped Blecher from killing his wife?

Usually these type of tragedies are unavoidable and would likely happen whether the assailant used guns, knives, or his bare hands. The best way to keep from falling victim is by keeping our eyes open and take the proper safety precautions.

There are many other suggestions as well, some have even suggested that we remember these three words “run, hide and fight.” as outlined in the article In Case of Mass Shootings

British Govt Fumbles ‘War on Gang Culture’

A year after the PM declared war on gang culture, chaos and violence is on the rise.

“In the wake of the mass rioting that swept the UK last summer, PM David Cameron launched an “all-out war on gang culture,” maintaining that gangs were at the root of the social unrest. The CSJ report cited statistics showing that “individuals who have links to gangs are believed to be responsible for 16 percent of London’s total drug supply, nearly a fifth of stabbings, half of all shootings and 14 percent of all rapes.”

The issue of crime on the rise and the root cause has eluded top ranking officials for the past year, many don’t believe it has much to do with the gangs at all but the declining living conditions and dysfunctional family unit that has swept through the UK in recent years.
